The Putnam County Board of Tax Assessors on Oct. 14 approved withdrawal requests on 31 appeals, reinstated one homestead exemption after a field appraiser's site visit and directed other appeals to appropriate hearing channels ahead of Board of Equalization proceedings.
The board unanimously approved the withdrawal of 31 appeals following a presentation by Chief Appraiser Chuck Anglin; signed releases are attached to the minutes. In separate action, the board reinstated the homestead exemption on parcel #103W-001-204 in a motion by John Richter, seconded by Virginia Daley, after a field appraiser's site visit resolved that appeal.
The board approved forwarding 13 appeals to the Clerk of Courts for Board of Equalization scheduling and nine appeals for Hearing Officer scheduling (attachments to the minutes detail the lists). Anglin also updated the board on a late appeal for parcel #102D-055: the taxpayer said they did not receive the May notice of assessment, but delivery tracking provided by Divcodata confirmed the notice was delivered; the tracking sheet is included with the minutes.
Anglin reported that a scheduled Superior Court hearing on a 2023 appeal for parcel #123C-039 did not take place on Sept. 12, 2025. He and the county attorney have a conference call scheduled Oct. 17, 2025 with the taxpayer for parcel #103C-045 regarding that 2023 appeal. Board members noted that Board of Equalization hearings are scheduled to begin Oct. 27, 2025. The board adjourned at 3:40 p.m.; its next regular meeting is Nov. 18 at 3:00 p.m.
The actions taken resolve multiple pending appeals and move several cases to the next procedural stage ahead of BOE hearings.
