Long County—s Board of Commissioners approved a series of land-use and procedural items during a short meeting on Nov. 2, 2021, in Ludowici.
The board voted unanimously to approve rezoning request Z-021-011, converting 1.5 acres (Tax/Map Parcel 064 A 036 001) from Rural Residential to C-1 Commercial, following a public hearing that opened at 9:00 a.m. and closed at 9:05 a.m. Planning and Zoning Administrator Russell Simmons reported that the Planning and Zoning Board had recommended approval; no public comments were offered during the hearing.
Commissioner John Reddish moved to approve the Final Plat for Phase II of The Enclave at Palmer Place; Vice Chairman Gerald Blocker seconded. Commissioner Jeremy Hall cast the lone dissenting vote and the motion passed 4-1. Vice Chairman Blocker moved to approve the Final Plat for Baker Field Subdivision; Commissioner Reddish seconded and the motion likewise passed 4-1 with Hall voting nay.
The board also authorized the process to abandon a small portion of Butter Davis Road after a motion by Commissioner Reddish, seconded by Vice Chairman Blocker; that motion passed unanimously. Commissioners voted unanimously to authorize legal processing of a Post Construction Ordinance after a motion by Commissioner Jeremy Hall and a second by Commissioner Reddish; the action was a direction to begin the legal process rather than a final adoption.
Procedural items approved at the start of the regular session included the November agenda, the October minutes and authorization to pay county bills; each of those motions passed on unanimous votes. Probate Judge Teresa Odum led the invocation before business began. Patricia Smith Johnson addressed the board during the public comment period about Macedonia Road and land purchases; the transcript records her comment but shows no formal action tied to it.
