Long County commissioners reappoint chair, select vice chair and set meeting schedule

At its Jan. 5 meeting the Long County Board of Commissioners reappointed Robert D. Parker as chair for one year, appointed Gerald Blocker vice chair for two years, approved James Smith as county attorney for 2021 and set future meetings for 9:00 a.m.
The Long County Board of Commissioners at its Jan. 5 meeting reappointed Robert D. Parker as chairman for a one-year term and appointed Gerald Blocker as vice chairman for a two-year term. Both motions passed unanimously.
The board also appointed James Smith as county attorney for 2021. Commissioner Florence Baggs requested that the chairman and county attorney review the county attorney’s salary and report back to the board for possible approval of an increase. The board authorized payment of bills, approved meeting minutes from December 2020 and set the regular meeting time at 9:00 a.m.
These organizational actions and routine approvals were recorded as unanimous in the minutes and establish leadership and meeting practices for the coming year.
