The motion was made by Commissioner Jeremy Hall and seconded by Commissioner Gerald Blocker and carried without opposition.
The moratorium was added to the meeting agenda by motion of Commissioner Florence Baggs before the board voted on the substantive motion later in the session. Commissioners did not specify in the minutes a staff report or ordinance accompanying the moratorium; the motion as recorded sets the pause while the board addresses rezoning activity.
The temporary halt affects any residential subdivision rezoning filings and related plats and variances filed or pending with Long County during the stated period. The board also removed a separate agenda item for a financial audit during the same meeting.
The board did not record additional findings or a clear timeline for staff review in the minutes beyond the moratorium dates. The moratorium will remain in effect until March 2, 2021 unless the board votes to lift or amend it at a subsequent meeting.
