Commissioner Florence Baggs reported that an individual had been denied use of a recreation facility for a voter registration and NAACP membership drive; County Attorney James Smith told the board it is inappropriate for a candidate to hold an event on government property. The board discussed whether a candidate could request use of the property for a non‑political event and said others may request the facility.
Several speakers raised animal‑control issues. Catherine Grasco urged action on abandoned animals and recommended more specific 'backyard breeders' rules, mandatory microchipping and an increase in the rehoming fee from $50.00. Erin, representing K9 Battle Buddies, questioned enforcement of a proposed one‑year dog‑ownership prohibition; Parker said one year was the maximum the county could impose.
