Long County commissioners approve rezoning, accept subdivision improvements and set candidate fee

Vice Chairman Gerald Blocker moved to approve Rezoning Request Z-021-012, filed by Provident Land Holdings Company; Commissioner John Reddish seconded. Commissioner Jeremy Hall voted no and Commissioner Florence Baggs abstained; the motion passed 3-2. The rezoning covers Parcel 081-004 and was described on the record as a conversion to single-family residential zoning.
On a separate motion, Commissioner John Reddish moved to accept roads and drainage in the Crawford, Vickers Hill and Murrays Crossing subdivisions; Commissioner Blocker seconded. Commissioner Hall voted no. The motion passed 4-1, indicating four commissioners voted to accept the infrastructure as meeting county requirements and one opposed.
Commissioners also set the qualifying fee for county commissioner candidates at 3% of the commissioner base salary, fixed at $290 for the May 24, 2022 primary. Commissioner Jeremy Hall moved the fee; Commissioner Reddish seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
