Ben Hill County reports stronger sales-tax receipts, modest rise in health-insurance costs

Dinnerman reported that the county’s health-insurance renewal increased by about 6% and that Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) receipts are running roughly 17% ahead of last year, tracking about $61,000 ahead. He also said the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) is approximately 17.5% ahead of last year and that the county’s cash position is healthy. Chief Appraiser Joyce Merritt has sent tax notices and is working on the digest.
