Ben Hill County commissioners rehire manager and clerk, hire local auditor and set banks

At their Jan. 5 meeting the Ben Hill County Board of Commissioners rehired County Manager Michael Dinnerman and County Clerk Donna Prather, reappointed the county attorney, hired Tony Eckler CPA as the county auditor, and designated several banks and the Herald Leader as county financial and legal partners.
The Ben Hill County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 5 voted to rehire County Manager Michael Dinnerman and County Clerk Donna Prather and reappointed the county attorney firm. Vice-Chair Hope Harmon moved to rehire Dinnerman; the motion passed with Commissioners Daniel Cowan and Bennie Calloway and Chairman Steve Taylor recorded in favor.
The board also reappointed the county attorney (identified in the minutes as the managing partner of Hall, Smith & Booth) after a motion and second passed unanimously among those present. Tony Eckler introduced himself to the commission, described his background with Meeks CPA and said he will prepare audits; Commissioner Daniel Cowan moved to hire Tony Eckler CPA Auditing Firm, a motion that Vice-Chair Harmon seconded and the board approved.
The commission approved Wells Fargo, Planters First, Colony Bank, Community Bank and the Local Investment Pool as the county’s designated financial institutions and selected the Herald Leader as the county legal organ. Commissioner Cowan nominated Commissioner Hope Harmon for Vice-Chair; the board closed nominations and the action was recorded as approved.
All procedural motions were recorded in the minutes with the vote tallies noted where present. Commissioner John Mooney is listed as absent in the attendance roll.
