County Manager Michael Dinnerman told the Ben Hill County Commission at its March 8 meeting that he is working on a special-purpose local-option sales tax (SPLOST) rollout expected in May and asked commissioners to be thinking about projects for consideration.
Dinnerman said he has consulted with Sheriff Cone, IT staff and Road Superintendent Tim Kegebein while preparing for the SPLOST presentation and advised commissioners to watch for scheduled work sessions to discuss potential projects. No formal SPLOST resolutions or project lists were introduced at the meeting.
The comment came amid routine agenda items including approval of several budget amendments and policy actions. Vice-Chair Hope Harmon also noted she would attend a legislative breakfast the following morning to discuss mental health and election-law issues.
Next steps indicated in the meeting record: staff will convene work sessions to present SPLOST project options to the commission ahead of the planned May rollout.
