Ben Hill County commissioners authorize SPLOST notice, adopt 457(b) changes, appoint DFAC member and approve SRO MOU

Vice‑Chair Hope Harmon moved and Commissioner Bennie Calloway seconded a motion to adopt Amendment #1 to the Ben Hill 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan; the motion passed 3‑0. The commission then approved a related resolution allowing the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) to amend the Roth option in the county’s 457(b) plan; that motion also passed unanimously among the three members present.
In other business the board appointed Joseph Manley to the Ben Hill County DFAC Board after Vice‑Chair Harmon nominated him and no other nominations were made. The motion to appoint Manley was seconded by Commissioner Calloway and passed 3‑0.
The commission approved a School Resource Officer (SRO) memorandum of understanding among Ben Hill County, Sheriff Lee Cone and the Board of Education; Vice‑Chair Harmon moved the approval and Commissioner Calloway seconded.
