The Coffee County Board of Commissioners on July 1 approved multiple routine contracts and service agreements covering behavioral health support, public health facilities, mapping services, juvenile court guardian ad litem services and indigent defense representation.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers presented the Unison Behavioral Health annual county participation contract for July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025 with a budgeted amount of $20,000 and noted the county-owned building at 1005 Shirley Avenue will be leased to Unison (the county maintains exterior duties while Unison maintains the interior). Commissioner Oscar Paulk moved to approve the participation contract and Commissioner AJ Dovers seconded; the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner AJ Dovers moved to approve the lease agreement for 1005 Shirley Avenue and Commissioner Paulk seconded; that motion also passed unanimously.
Vickers also presented a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Health for the building at 1003 Shirley Avenue covering July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025; the MOU follows prior arrangements with the Southeast Health District and was approved by unanimous vote after a motion by Commissioner Dovers and a second by Commissioner Paulk.
The board approved two annual agreements with the Southern Georgia Regional Commission: $1,500 to maintain the Elections Interactive Web Map database and $2,000 to provide Geographic Information System support and maintenance for the county’s E-911 roads and address interactive web map. Vice Chairman Johnny Wayne Jowers moved to approve the elections mapping agreement; Commissioner Ted O’Steen seconded. Commissioner AJ Dovers moved to approve the GIS agreement; Commissioner Oscar Paulk seconded; both motions passed unanimously.
On court services, the board approved a Guardian Ad Litem services contract for juvenile court naming Attorney Chad White as the provider for $14,400 per year (July 1, 2024–June 30, 2025). The county also approved the indigent defense representation contract in state court with Bryan Rumker for $24,999.96 for the same period. Both agreements were presented by Vickers and approved by unanimous votes after motions and seconds by members of the commission.
County staff listed Fire Department items declared surplus for sale on GovDeals, including a boat motor, flagpole, damaged hose, miscellaneous electronics (radios, pagers, thermal imaging cameras), outdated automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and a light table from the Tax Assessors office; the board approved the surplus disposition unanimously.
