Commissioners approve Boca Drive abandonment, authorize quitclaim sale to Wellses for $17,876.95

The Coffee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to abandon Boca Drive and authorized a quitclaim deed conveying the county’s interest in the road to Terry E. Wells Sr. and Patricia B. Wells for $17,876.95, contingent on closing.

County Attorney Tony Rowell explained the application to close Boca Drive, which runs from Basswood Road to its abutment at Baymeadows Lake. Rowell said the applicant, Terry Wells Sr., had purchased the south side of Boca Drive and that the Baymeadows Property Owners Association submitted a letter stating it had no objection to the closing. The board opened a public hearing and recorded no public comment before closing the hearing.

Commissioner A.J. Dovers moved to approve the Resolution of Road Abandonment and subsequently moved to approve the Quit Claim Deed contingent on a closing and payment of $17,876.95; both motions were seconded and passed unanimously. The minutes state the $17,876.95 figure was based on an engineering estimate by Statewide Engineering and that the quitclaim is contingent on a closing and payment at closing.

The Board did not record any requests for appeal, additional conditions, or objections during the meeting record; additional closing steps, including recording and any title matters, will be completed as part of the conveyance process.
