Coffee County awards road and stripe contracts, approves change order and engineering work

Coffee County commissioners on Jan. 6 approved several roadwork contracts and related budgeted engineering tasks.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers said the Matt’s Way street and drainage improvements (SWE#24-3529), funded by the Georgia Department of Transportation with SPLOST VII matching, drew multiple bids. Statewide Engineering recommended the low bidder, East Coast Asphalt, LLC, for Base Bid + Alternate #1 at $168,785.11; Commissioner Ted O’Steen moved to accept the recommendation and the motion passed unanimously.
The commission also approved a TSPLOST-funded signing and striping contract (SWE#24-3522) to Peek Pavement Markings, LLC for $307,768.10, covering approximately 50 miles of county roads. Commissioner A.J. Dovers moved to approve the bid and Commissioner O’Steen seconded; the vote was unanimous.
Separately, the board approved Change Order No.1 for the Maplewood Road and Creekside Drive street and drainage contract (SWE#22-3428), adding $21,632.50 and bringing the contract total to $224,849.38 to extend paving to a gate and add minor drainage work. The commission also authorized a $29,447 contract with Statewide Engineering to provide engineering services for FY2026 LMIG street and drainage improvements for Circle K and Ranch Road (SWE#24-3541).
All roadway awards and the change order passed on unanimous votes.
