The Coffee County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a $22.29 million General Fund and $26.30 million combined Special Revenue budget for FY2025, approved most alcohol renewal licenses while tabling West Green Liquor pending administrative review, and confirmed board appointments for 2025.
Coffee County commissioners on Monday approved the county’s FY2025 budgets and moved through several routine items, voting unanimously to adopt a $22,291,000 General Fund budget and combined Special Revenue Funds of $26,302,800.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers told the board the budgets had been properly advertised and reviewed at a Dec. 27 public hearing. Commissioner Ted O’Steen moved to adopt the proposed budgets; Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens seconded the motion, which carried on a unanimous vote.
The commission also approved the slate of FY2025 alcohol license renewals but removed West Green Liquor from the list to allow the county attorney to review an administrative issue. “This list is subject to approval with the exception of West Green Liquor being removed from the list,” County Attorney Tony Rowell told commissioners before the vote. Commissioner A.J. Dovers moved to approve the agenda with the amendment; Commissioner Ted O’Steen seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens read and the commission approved a series of board appointments effective Jan. 1, 2025, including appointments to the Economic Development Authority, Southern Georgia Regional Commission and local hospital authority and elections boards. Commissioner Kitchens moved to approve the appointments and Commissioner Dovers seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board adjourned after addressing other items on the agenda; the next meeting date was not changed during the session.
