The Coffee County Board of Commissioners recorded the first reading of a rezoning request by Kayla Sellers for a 5.39-acre parcel at 5547 Fitzgerald Highway in Broxton on April 7, 2025.
Jason Whiddon, Code Enforcement Director, explained the request to rezone the property from AG (Agriculture) to PD (Planned Development) for the purpose of constructing a metal building to operate a quilting retreat and to permit occasional on-site quilt sales. Whiddon said the Planning Commission reviewed the application on Feb. 21, 2025 and recommended approval; county staff agreed and conveyed that recommendation to the board.
Chairman Johnny Wayne Jowers opened the floor for public comment and none was offered. Because this was recorded as the first reading, no final action was taken at the April 7 meeting; the rezoning remains pending further readings or required procedures per county ordinance.
