Pierce County commissioners unanimously approve rezonings, two ordinances, EMS equipment purchase and school tax levy

County Manager Raphel Maddox told representatives of NexEra they may apply for an exception to the ordinance.
- Ordinance to set standards for solar energy systems and battery energy storage systems: adopted. Motion by Commissioner Troy Mattox; second by Commissioner Randy Dixon; unanimous.
- Intergovernmental agreement with PC BOE for gym use (annual): approved. Motion by Commissioner Randy Dixon; second by Commissioner Graham Raley; unanimous.
- Pierce County School District 2025 tax-levy resolution: approved. Motion by Commissioner Randy Dixon; second by Commissioner Troy Mattox; unanimous.
- EMS equipment purchase totaling $139,367.01: approved. EMS Director Daniel Royal explained a three-year warranty option costing $11,503.90 per year (total $34,511.70) and said the equipment would be used as a backup in a current ambulance and later moved to a new ambulance. Funding was allocated $31,681.29 from SPLOST for a power load and $104,855.31 from the EMS general fund. Motion by Commissioner David Lowman; second by Commissioner Randy Dixon; unanimous.
Each motion recorded in the meeting was approved with all present commissioners voting yes.
The board also reviewed the proposed FY2026 budget and received a tentative calendar for public hearings; Deputy Clerk Lana Blankenship agreed to provide Commissioner Graham Raley with 2024 actuals and 2025 year-to-date numbers.
The board adjourned at 7:00 p.m.
