Jasper County commissioners approve appointments, grant agreement, auction and budget calendar

The Jasper County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 2 approved a series of administrative actions and schedule items including an appointment to the Board of Assessors, grant and fiscal-agent paperwork, a county surplus auction plan and the FY 2027 budget calendar.
Commissioner Steven Ledford moved to appoint Dan Mauldin to the Board of Assessors; Commissioner Rob Alexander seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board authorized Chairman Bruce Henry to sign the Fiscal Agent Designation for the Family Connection Collaborative for FY 2026–27 after a presentation by Targie Folds. Commissioners also approved participation in the ACCG Georgia County Internship Program (a reimbursed project to document county right-of-way) and accepted plans for a county surplus assets auction targeted for April 20, 2026.
On procurement matters, the board accepted an annual quote from Waste Management for landfill roll-off containers (motion by Commissioner Asher Gray, second Commissioner Steven Ledford). Commissioners tabled a proposed ordinance amendment that would require a minimum of two public hearings for ordinance changes pending a work session. The FY 2027 budget calendar, which accommodates the Tax Assessor’s request to complete the digest in April, was adopted unanimously. The board scheduled a work session for Feb. 27, 2026 at 9 a.m. and adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
