Bacon County commissioners approve multiple bids, set $12,000 solar permit fee and appoint election board member

Multiple other quotes were on the record from Appling Motors (three Kubota models ranging from $13,200 to $17,600) and Knights Saw Shop (Husqvarna and other Scag models). Commissioner Lonann Sweat moved to accept the $11,000 Knights Saw Shop quote; Commissioner Corey Tyre seconded and the motion carried.
The board approved a contract to house state inmates at a cost of $54,249.80 annually. Commissioner Lee Hagans moved to accept the contract and Commissioner Corey Tyre seconded; the motion carried.
Several road projects advanced after a bid opening. East Coast was the low bidder on the LRA Dedge Farm Road project and on LMIG 2025 work for Twin Lake Road and Pine Grove Church Road; Peek Paving was the lone bidder on SAP work for Dixie Pipeline and Radio Station Road. Commissioners moved to accept the low bidders and carried the motions.
Commissioner Rusty Sears moved to set the county’s solar permit fee at $12,000, a motion seconded by Commissioner Sammy Boatright; the board approved the fee.
The commission also approved a hazardous-materials agreement for $1,010.30 (motion by Commissioner Lee Hagans, seconded by Commissioner Corey Tyre) and appointed Chris McQuaig to the Election Board (motion by Commissioner Lonann Sweat, seconded by Commissioner Corey Tyre). With no further business, the board adjourned after a motion by Commissioner Corey Tyre, seconded by Commissioner Sammy Boatright.
