Bacon County OKs road closure, awards two roadwork contracts and authorizes $1,800 opioid-fund training for school police

On county road projects, the board awarded the LMIG contract for Iowa River Road to low bidder Scruggs Concrete at $624,757.31 (motion by Commissioner Lee Hagans, seconded by Commissioner Lonann Sweat) and awarded the LRA contract for Beach Highway to low bidder GA Asphalt at $341,860.16 (motion by Commissioner Rusty Sears, seconded by Commissioner Corey Tyre). The motions carried.
The board also approved a request from the Bacon County School District Police for $1,800 from the county's Opioid Funds to pay for training. Commissioner Lonann Sweat moved to approve the opioid-fund payment and Commissioner Rusty Sears seconded; the motion carried.
The minutes show the board then handled appointments and scheduled a Dec. 3 meeting at 12 p.m. to set the county millage rate before adjourning.
