Autauga County Commission approves transportation pass-through, personnel moves and routine business

The Autauga County Commission met July 1, 2025, in Prattville and unanimously approved a series of routine and administrative actions, including a state pass-through agreement for federal rural transit funds memorialized as Resolution #2025-39.
Commission Chairman Jay Thompson called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and the four commissioners present conducted a brief agenda of consent items and administrative business. On motions moved and seconded by commissioners, the board approved the minutes of its June 17 regular meeting and authorized payment of invoices received through July 1, 2025.
The commission approved the consent docket, which authorized staff training (jail management training in Montgomery and a laws impacting counties class in Prattville), declared an EMA 20-foot tandem trailer (asset code 1453) surplus and approved destruction of a sheriff's department metal detector (Rapid Scan Systems Meteor 6M). The board also approved change order #3 for phase II of the Jail/Courthouse Project.
The board approved budget adjustments for the sheriff's office as recorded in the minutes (the record references a $700.00 transfer from fund code 52100-399 and several operating-line adjustments). The commission accepted resignations from full-time correctional officers Ryan Justice (effective June 16, 2025) and Joshua Powell (effective June 21, 2025) and authorized hiring replacements. The commission also approved promotion of Danielle Gantt from Election Supervisor/Probate Clerk to Assistant Chief Clerk (grade 7, step 1), effective July 3, 2025, and approved listing insolvents, errors and taxes in litigation for 2024 and prior uncollected years.
On federal-funding matters, the commission approved a fiscal years 2026'2028 agreement with the State of Alabama providing a pass-through of federal funds for a rural (nonurban) area public transportation program; the action was recorded as Resolution #2025-39 and carries partial funding from the Federal Transit Administration. The minutes include the full resolution language authorizing the chairman to execute the agreement and directing the administrator to file the executed document in the minute book.
Other approvals included an ARP Act of 2021 furlough certification and a Certificate of Compliance with the Beason-Hammon Alabama Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act. The board approved subdivision Everly Place, Plat No. 1 (County Road 21, District 5), accepted termination of mechanic Willie DeVaughn (effective June 20, 2025) with authorization to hire a replacement, and approved planned routes for the Pine Level Independence Day Parade.
