Autauga County joins regional SS4A supplemental planning grant application

Autauga County Commissioners on June 17 approved Resolution #2025-35 to join a joint application with Chambers County and Elmore County for a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) supplemental planning grant.
According to the resolution text, the partnership previously secured a $640,000 SS4A planning grant in October 2023 and contracted Sain Associates to develop county-level safety action plans. The county identified supplemental safety planning that was not a deliverable under the existing consulting contract and is now seeking to supplement those plans through the SS4A supplemental opportunity.
Autauga County’s expected cost for the supplemental safety planning is $105,000; the resolution notes that the federal SS4A share may not exceed 80 percent of eligible costs (an estimated $84,000) and that Autauga County must provide a local match of no less than 20 percent (an estimated $21,000). The application deadline is stated as 5:00 p.m. EDT on June 26, 2025, and Chambers County will remain the lead applicant and administrator of any resulting grant funds.
The resolution also states the county’s understanding that U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) expects to obligate SS4A award funding via signed agreement within 12 months after awards are announced, and that the county would provide its local match to the lead applicant prior to award execution if granted.
