Autauga County Commission approves road contracts, hires and service agreements; executive session convened

The Autauga County Commission approved multiple procurement and personnel items during its Feb. 4, 2025 meeting, including contracts for geotechnical testing, annual public-works services, and an award of the county's 2025 annual concrete bid.
The commission voted unanimously to enter into a geotechnical services agreement with Universal Engineering Solutions (UES) for approximately one mile of CR-19 from US-82 to the Autauga Northern Railroad tracks. Commissioners also approved annual public works contracts awarded under procurement inquiries 2025-PW1 (Ozark Striping Company, Inc.), 2025-PW2 (GW Norrell Contracting Company, Inc.) and 2025-PW3 (Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc.) to perform striping, bridge and culvert maintenance, and paving and surface treatment, respectively. The annual concrete bid was awarded to Champ Concrete and Hodgson Concrete Company.
Personnel and administrative actions approved on the consent docket included a six-month probation for Deputy Sheriff Charles Driscoll (date of hire: July 22, 2024), approval of payroll and invoice warrants through Feb. 4, 2025, a $59.21 transfer for postage-meter usage to the Probate budget, and several hires and replacements (including approval to hire Justin Cunningham as operator I, pending background and drug testing). The Commission also approved a Memorandum of Understanding for the Autauga/Elmore Mobile Crisis Team (CARASTAR), renewed the county attorney contract with McDowell, Faulk & Shirley, and approved an election agreement with the City of Prattville and the Board of Registrars.
An item to approve an ABC license for Ballerz Lounge LLC died from lack of motion and received no action. The body entered executive session at 5:20 p.m. and reconvened at 5:52 p.m., with both motions recorded as carrying unanimously; the minutes record no formal action taken as a result of that session. The meeting adjourned at 6:00 p.m.; the next regular meeting was scheduled for Feb. 18, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
