Autauga County proclaims Human Trafficking Awareness Month, approves routine personnel actions

The Autauga County Commission on Jan. 7 approved a proclamation declaring January 2025 as Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month and completed several routine personnel and budget items.
The proclamation (Resolution No. 2025-12), approved by motion of Commissioner Bill Tatum and seconded by Commissioner John L. Thrailkill, states that "Autauga County supports partnerships to comprehensively address the issues of human trafficking and create Trafficking Free Zones," and that the county "do hereby proclaim January 2025 as Human Trafficking Awareness and Prevention Month." Chairman Jay Thompson signed the proclamation as recorded in the minutes.
The commission also accepted the resignation of Deputy Sheriff Michael Bradford, effective Dec. 17, 2024, and authorized hiring a replacement; that motion was made by Rusty Jacksland and seconded by Bill Tatum and carried unanimously.
Personnel actions approved included a one-year, one-step pay increase for Ryan Justice, a full-time correctional officer (DOH: Jan. 6, 2024), approved on a motion by Terry Tanner and seconded by Rusty Jacksland, and a one-year, one-step pay increase for part-time Operator II James Weathers (DOH: Jan. 2, 2024). Both motions carried by unanimous vote.
County Engineer John Mark Davis presented the Rebuild Alabama annual report to the commission; the minutes record the presentation but no formal action or public comment on the report is included.
The commission adjourned at 5:23 p.m. and scheduled its next regular meeting for Jan. 21, 2025, at 5:00 p.m.
