Union County approves claims, veteran abatement and 24 flood abatements

The board also approved 24 flood-related abatements (2025-018 through 2025-041). The minutes provide itemized totals for each abatement and the amounts apportioned to county, municipal and special district taxing jurisdictions; the minutes should be consulted for specific parcel numbers and dollar splits.
The board additionally received a report that State's Attorney Zenner met with the board and that representatives from Risty Benefits, Inc., presented a benefit plan for consideration. Commissioners approved sending a letter to the U.S. Corps of Engineers regarding the Lower Big Sioux Watershed Comprehensive Study on a motion by Ustad, seconded by Kimmel.
