Autauga County Commission approves contracts, hires, grants and proclaims Hunger Action Awareness Month

At its Sept. 17 meeting the Autauga County Commission approved a slate of administrative items and proclamations by unanimous votes.
On routine motions the commission: approved an updated contract with Turn Key Correctional Healthcare for jail medical services; approved the annual reappraisal contract with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI); approved the FY2025 Central Alabama Aging Consortium contract for Oct. 1, 2024–Sept. 30, 2025; and approved a Transportation Services agreement between Central Alabama Aging Consortium and Autauga County Rural Transportation for the same period. The commission also approved the FY2025 Alabama Department of Youth Services (DYS) Diversion Grant for the Pathway program.
Personnel actions approved included hiring Cnisha Alexander as Autaugaville Senior Center Manager (grade 5: step 1), effective Sept. 30, 2024, to replace Anita Bates, and granting a one-year, one-step pay increase to Senior Center Managers Emma Mosely and Angela Thomas. The commission accepted the resignation of part-time driver Timmie Miller (effective Aug. 22, 2024) and authorized hiring a replacement.
The body approved multiple budget transfers across departments (Reappraisal, EMA, Engineering and Sheriff line items) to cover items such as aerial photography, fuel, vehicle maintenance, telephone and utility costs. On a separate motion, the commission adopted Resolution No. 2024-33 renewing county participation in the Association of County Commissions of Alabama Workers' Compensation Self-Insurers Fund through Sept. 30, 2027, which accepts a longevity bonus conditioned on continued membership through that date; the motion was made by Rusty Jacksland and seconded by John L. Thrailkill and carried unanimously.
Commissioners also approved a proclamation naming September 2024 as Hunger Action Awareness Month in Autauga County, citing a 13.3% local food-insecurity rate and noting the Heart of Alabama Food Bank's role in serving local pantries.
All motions in this slate were carried by unanimous vote; no recorded opposition or amendments were noted in the minutes.
