The Autauga County Commission on Sept. 17 adopted Resolution No. 2024-34 mourning the death of Autaugaville Town Councilman Gregory Palmer. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Commissioner John L. Thrailkill and seconded by Commissioner Bill Tatum; the motion carried unanimously.
The resolution records that Gregory Palmer was born March 27, 1961, and died Aug. 5, 2024, and that he was elected to the Autaugaville Town Council in 2020. It notes Palmer's service in the U.S. Air Force, his employment history at Rheem Water Heaters, and his active roles in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, including service as steward, on the financial team and in mentoring capacities. The resolution also lists family survivors and civic honors, including past awards and leadership roles in church and community organizations.
The commission adopted the resolution as a formal expression of sympathy and recognition of Palmer’s community service.
