Autauga County Commission approves routine personnel, contracts and mutual-aid agreements; honors local organizations
Summary
The commission approved personnel changes, mutual-aid inmate-housing agreements, juvenile-detention contracts, several procurement awards including an HVAC contract, budget transfers and resolutions recognizing the Prattville Swim League and honoring Councilor Albert Striplin.
At its Sept. 3 meeting, the Autauga County Commission approved a series of routine personnel actions, contracts and budget adjustments and adopted two community resolutions.
Personnel and staffing actions approved included: a six-month probation for Revenue clerk Angie Calloway; the resignation and hire approvals for multiple jail and administrative positions; promotion of Steven Campbell from part-time civil process to part-time SORNA/Evidence Tech; and a one-year, one-step pay increase for part-time training officer John Hurst. Motions for those actions were made and seconded by various commissioners and carried by unanimous vote unless otherwise noted.
The commission authorized several intergovernmental agreements for housing Autauga County inmates in other counties (Tallapoosa, Chambers, Pike, Butler, Lee and Macon). It also approved the FY2025 Long-Term Detention Subsidy Contract with the Alabama Department of Youth Services for 10/1/24-9/30/25, an MOU with Lee County Youth Development Center (8/1/24-9/30/25), and a contract to house Autauga County juveniles at the Montgomery County Juvenile Detention facility for FY2025.
On budget and procurement matters the commission approved transfers to the gasoline budget to cover August fuel usage (total due from general fund $8,155.16; due from reappraisal fund $345.97), an additional $12,000 for sheriff vehicle maintenance and $11,000 for sheriff fuel. The commission awarded the project RA ACP 01-88-21 (protective coating to bin 004008 on CR-4 over Autauga Creek) to Omega Coating & Construction LLC (lowest bidder), awarded HVAC preventive maintenance services to Smith Heating & Air Conditioning LLC for $20,144.00 (sole bidder; motion carried 4-1 with Commissioner Bill Tatum abstaining), and awarded oil-and-filter changer services to Griffith Enterprises DBA Autosave Tire and Automotive (sole bidder).
The commission approved surplus and disposal of a Nikon Coolpix L32 camera (serial #30157038) and authorized sale of a 2023 Mack GR64F dump truck (VIN 1M2GR4GCXPM029184) at JM Wood Auction. It also approved final plat for Landing Place No. 3A pending completion of punch-list items and accepted an ADEM scrap-tire agreement running 10/1/2024-9/30/2027.
In community business the panel adopted Resolution #2024-28 recognizing the Prattville Swim League for 2024 competitive achievements and Resolution #2024-29 mourning the death of Prattville City Councilor Albert Carleton Striplin and noting his public service. Those resolutions were adopted by unanimous vote.
The commission suspended the rules and entered executive session at 5:36 p.m. to discuss a public-safety matter, reconvened at 5:47 p.m., and adjourned at 5:50 p.m., scheduling the next regular meeting for Sept. 17, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.
