The Autauga County Commission met Aug. 13 and on unanimous motions approved routine business and several personnel and administrative items.
The commission approved the Aug. 6 meeting minutes, including a pay correction for Deputy Sheriff John Daniels (PS303: step 4 to PS303: step 3), and authorized payment of invoices received through Aug. 13. Commissioners also approved items on the consent docket including authorization for designated personnel to attend law enforcement and EMA conferences, and declared specified sheriff’s office equipment surplus for destruction.
Personnel actions approved included termination of Joshua Jones, full-time correction officer (effective Aug. 5, 2024), termination of part-time van driver Willie Russell (effective July 17, 2024), and authorization to hire replacements. The commission approved hiring Brenda Tyus as a part-time van driver (grade 3, step 4) effective Sept. 3, 2024, to replace Tiquishia Brenson who resigned. The commission accepted the resignation of Amber Huett, EMA assistant (effective July 19, 2024), and approved hiring Ciara Wheatley as EMA assistant (grade 4, step 1), pending background check and drug screen, effective Sept. 3, 2024. The resignation of Operator I Eddrick Lee (effective Aug. 23, 2024) was also accepted and a replacement authorized.
On transportation matters, the commission approved the FY2024 Section 5307 and Section 5339 agreements with the City of Montgomery and Autauga County Rural Transportation, and approved a certification regarding lobbying for rural transportation. The commission also approved the 2024–2025 County Transportation Plan.
Administrative items included authorization to bid HVAC maintenance and repair services. All motions were recorded as having carried by unanimous vote of the Commission. The meeting adjourned at 5:09 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Sept. 3, 2024 at 5:00 p.m.
