The Autauga County Commission on Aug. 13 adopted Resolution #2024-27 setting a public hearing for Sept. 3, 2024, at 4:45 p.m. to consider a petition to remove certain parcels from the Interstate Industrial Park.
The petition was filed by the Autauga County Industrial Development Authority and supported by Central Alabama Cooperative Services, Inc.; First Community Bank of Central Alabama; and Central Alabama Electric Cooperative. The petition seeks removal of specific parcels from the industrial park pursuant to Section 11-23-7 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended. The resolution directs that notice of the hearing be published in the Prattville Progress at least 10 days before the hearing.
Commissioner Bill Tatum moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Rusty Jacksland seconded. The motion “carried by unanimous vote of the Commission,” and the petition will be considered for approval at the Commission’s regular Sept. 3, 2024 meeting at 5:00 p.m. following the hearing.
Why it matters: removing parcels from an industrial park can change development rules, tax treatment, and which governing authorities review future projects. The resolution is procedural — it schedules a public forum and sets a date for the Commission to consider whether to grant the removal after receiving public comment.
Public comment on the petition will be accepted at the Sept. 3 hearing; the Commission’s subsequent action on the petition will be recorded in its minutes and any formal ordinance or resolution if approved.
