The Autauga County Commission met May 21 in Prattville and approved a slate of routine personnel actions, contracts and intergovernmental agreements, including consent to the formation of the Riverfell Improvement District and acceptance of a $17,000 State Emergency Management Agency (EMA) subaward.
Chairman Jay Thompson called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and commissioners unanimously approved the minutes of the May 7 regular meeting and payment of invoices received through May 21. The commission then approved several personnel actions: hiring Corey Smith as a deputy sheriff (grade PS303, step 3) effective May 20, 2024; accepting the resignation of school resource officer Angela Young effective May 14, 2024 and authorizing a replacement; demoting Lieutenant Bart Watkins to deputy sheriff (PS303, step 4) effective May 17, 2024; hiring Brooklyn Wolfe as a full-time correctional officer (PS301, step 4) effective May 21, 2024; transferring Joshua Jones to the Metro Jail as a…
