Union County approves payroll, vendor claims and routine purchases; laptops and travel authorized

At its July 22 meeting the Board approved payroll of $101,695.86, a list of vendor claims (including Myrl & Roys Paving at $106,076.41 and Ulteig Engineers at $51,388.25), authorized purchase of HP Elite laptops for commissioners, and approved Assessor’s travel to Canton.
The Union County Board of Commissioners audited and approved payroll and vendor claims during its July 22, 2025 meeting and authorized several routine purchases and travel requests.
The Board approved BW Payroll for 7/25/2025 totaling $101,695.86 and a long list of claims and warrants that includes large line items such as Myrl & Roys Paving ($106,076.41) and Ulteig Engineers, Inc. ($51,388.25). Commissioner Tom Kimmel moved and Commissioner Robert Ballard seconded approval of the claims; the motion carried.
The Board also approved the purchase of 16-inch HP Elite laptops with Microsoft Office for the commissioners after a motion by Commissioner Michael Dailey and a second by Commissioner Peggy Ustad; the motion carried. In addition, travel for Assessor’s Office staff to attend continuing education in Canton on Aug. 11–12, 2025, was approved on a motion by Robert Ballard and second by Tom Kimmel.
Why it matters: payroll and claims approvals authorize county spending and vendor payment. The minutes list audited claims by vendor and amount but do not give department-level budget impacts beyond the line items recorded. The minutes do not show roll-call vote tallies, only that motions carried.
The meeting adjourned at 1:25 p.m.; the next regular meeting is set for Aug. 5, 2025.
