Lehigh Township supervisors approve bills; board flags $94,696 truck body bill and attorney fees

Vice Chairman Jerry Pritchard presided as the Lehigh Township Board of Supervisors approved General Fund checks 28851–28891 and State Fund checks 1625–1627 on July 22, 2025.
The board questioned a $94,696 invoice to EM Kutz for the body of a new truck, which exceeded the $85,000 amount budgeted in 2024. Supervisor Alice Rehrig said the truck’s total cost was recorded as a 2024 payable and was largely in line with the township’s capital improvements plan.
Supervisors also raised a sizable bill to Campbell Durrant labeled as labor-attorney services. Resident Paul Nikisher asked for details about that invoice; Supervisor Cindy Miller said it was “labor related and the details cannot be discussed,” and Attorney David Backenstoe told the board that personnel matters are private and exempt from disclosure under the Right to Know Law.
Janet Sheats moved to approve the general fund bills; David Hess seconded. The motion carried. The board voted to approve the state fund checks by a separate motion; that vote carried as well. No changes to budget authority were made at the meeting.
The board did not take additional public action on the Pine Run dispute announced later in the meeting; the solicitor said options had been discussed in executive session.
