Sheriff Prouty told the Union County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 2 that the Sheriff’s Office, together with Alcester’s Fire and Ambulance Departments, will host Community Night Out at Alcester City Park on Sept. 16 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The minutes state the event will include activities, a food truck and opportunities to meet local emergency departments.
The board also approved a motion to write a letter of support honoring the 70th anniversary of the television debut of the Lawrence Welk Show. The motion to approve the letter was made by Commissioner Dailey, seconded by Commissioner Ballard, and recorded as carried.
Both items were recorded in the minutes under announcements and recognitions; the minutes do not record additional details about event organizers beyond the named county and Alcester emergency departments, nor do they attach the proposed letter text.
