First readings held for Dakota Dunes speed-limit and golf-cart ordinances; highway permit approved for fiber work

The Union County Board of Commissioners held first readings on two Dakota Dunes ordinances during its Oct. 14 meeting. The speed-limit ordinance would revise posted speeds on Dakota Dunes Boulevard; the golf-cart ordinance revises rules within the Dakota Dunes CID. Both received first readings; the board scheduled second readings for Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, at 11:30 a.m.
Separately, the board approved a Union County Highway Department permit allowing Alliance Communications to bore under County Road 13/302nd Street to replace or repair a fiber-optic line that was cut during the 64-042-050 replacement project. The permit was approved by motion (mover: Dailey; seconder: Ballard) and recorded as carried.
These items were recorded in the unapproved minutes and will return for further consideration at the Oct. 28 meeting for the ordinances. The highway permit is an approved administrative action and will be implemented by the Highway Department and the applicant.
