At the Dec. 9 meeting, the Union County Board of Commissioners rejected a $206,638.23 boiler bid from Mitchell Plumbing and Heating because of a bidding error and accepted the next-lowest bid of $243,300 from Midwest Mechanical. Commissioner Bob Ballard moved to accept the Midwest Mechanical bid; Commissioner Peg Ustad seconded; both motions carried.
The board also rejected Alternate #1, a proposed filter system option priced at $14,700, after Union County Building Superintendent Sexton indicated the new boiler system will include an integrated filter.
On highway business the board approved multiple Agreements for Voluntary Right of Way Donation for bridge Project No. BRO 8086(00)24-4 (PCN 09RU, Structure 64-060-137) including easements from Charles Vreugdenhil, Sally & Robert Vreugdenhil (Trustees), and J & C Vreugdenhil and C & M Vreugdenhil.
