The Union County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 23, 2025 discussed hiring a construction manager for a planned courthouse addition and remodel and approved a boiler contract for courthouse maintenance.
The board heard a presentation from Andrew of Architecture Incorporated outlining changes to the courthouse addition and remodel project. The board’s discussion included the possibility of hiring a Construction Manager/Project Manager to oversee the addition and remodel; the minutes record discussion but no formal motion to hire a project manager during the meeting.
Separately, commissioners authorized the chairman to sign a boiler contract with Midwestern Mechanical. The motion to approve the boiler contract was made by Dailey and seconded by Ballard and was recorded as carried.
Sheriff Prouty addressed the board about the Sheriff’s Office portion of the courthouse project, outlining department needs related to the addition and remodel. Nurse Heirigs provided her routine monthly report earlier in the meeting, and other facilities-related items were discussed in the maintenance section of the agenda.
The board recessed and later returned to executive session for personnel matters before adjourning at 1:31 p.m. The minutes were attested by Katie Winquist, Auditor, and Kevin Joffer, Chairman.
