At its Feb. 3, 2026 meeting, the Union County Board of Commissioners carried several routine items including approval of minutes, elderly freeze abatements, claims and payroll disbursements, and administrative agreements.
The board approved elderly freeze abatements for five parcels with recorded amounts: 2026-001 $896.38; 2026-002 $76.54; 2026-003 $2,286.08; 2026-004 $1,041.34; 2026-005 $1,256.08. The minutes show the board audited and approved multiple payroll runs and vendor claims; a detailed list of vendors and amounts is recorded in the minutes.
The agenda was amended to add travel for EMA Jason Westcott to attend the SD OEM State IMAT Conference in Chamberlain on Feb. 10–12, 2026; the state will cover hotel and per diem. The board also approved combined election agreements for Vermillion School 13-1 and the City of Elk Point, and signed updated bylaws for the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance (SDPAA). Finally, the board corrected an earlier budget supplement amount in the Oct. 14, 2025 minutes to $239,937.00 due to an omission.
The board adjourned at 2:25 p.m. and set the next regular meeting for Feb. 17, 2026.
