Kelloggsville reports summer-school credit recovery and readies Rocket Registration event

District officials reported summer-school credit-recovery results—including 90 high-school semester credits recovered and strong elementary participation—and outlined the Rocket Registration event to enroll students and provide family resources.
At the Aug. 14 meeting, Kelloggsville Board of Education staff summarized summer-school outcomes and previewed the district's Rocket Registration enrollment event.
Director of Instruction Jeff Owen told the board the high-school summer program registered 80 students who recovered 90 semester credits, and that KVS virtual instruction (including students from KVS, 54th Street and KHS) accounted for 23 semester courses regained. At the middle-school level, roughly 59 students participated; 34 of those students earned a combined total of 131 credits, and program attendance averaged about 70 percent for the middle-school offerings. At the elementary level, 117 students enrolled in summer programs with an average daily attendance of 79 percent; elementary students were offered weekly enrichment options such as PE or art.
Owen also presented plans for a Rocket Registration event (noted in materials as Thursday, Aug. 3) to register returning and new students in the district's new student information system, Synergy. The event will provide resources from groups identified in the packet (KDL, athletics, transportation, food service offering free meals, mental-health clinicians and the DOCK) and will allow families to receive schedules and student IDs. Owen thanked staff including Mrs. Scott, building secretaries and administrators for organizing the registration event.
Board members expressed appreciation for summer-school staff and encouraged participation at Rocket Registration. No formal vote was required for these presentations.
