During the May 9 meeting the Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners approved a slate of administrative actions covering bank signers, personnel and legal services.
Commissioner Nick Stotz moved and Vice Chairman Colin Soukup seconded a motion to designate Jason Gant (Auditor), Melissa Schrader (Deputy Auditor), Michelle Wentland (Treasurer) and Julie Wright (Deputy Treasurer) as official signers on all county bank accounts; the motion passed unanimously.
The board approved personnel actions including travel authorizations for the auditor and deputy auditor to conferences in Pierre and an assessor meeting in Mitchell. The board approved hiring Galen Patterson Jr. as a jailer effective May 7, 2024, at a rate of $20.61, and accepted the resignation of jailer Mataya Kezena effective April 23, 2024.
The commissioners also approved a contract for legal services with attorney Sara Frankenstein of the Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson & Ashmore law firm to provide election-related legal counsel.
The board adjusted June meeting dates to June 6 and June 27 because of the primary election county canvas and added July 5 as a county holiday in recognition of the state closing on that date.
