The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners moved through routine business on June 27, approving election certification, plats, departmental agreements and personnel travel.
Acting as the county board of canvassers, commissioners certified the abstract of votes from the June 4, 2024 primary and the June 25 recount for District 21 state legislative contests. The certification was approved by motion and recorded in the minutes.
The board approved two plats presented at the meeting: Tract 1 of Merkwan Addition (Jackson Township) and Beltman Tract 1 (Platte Township). The motions to approve the plats carried unanimously.
The board also approved a letter of understanding from the Department of Legislative Audit for the upcoming county audit, membership in Planning and Development District III for 2025 at a cost of $18,068, and the South Dakota Department of Health WIC agreement for 2024–2025. Commissioners authorized a $5,000 contribution to the Rural Office of Community Services for elderly nutrition programs in Lake Andes, Platte and Wagner, and approved travel requests for county staff to attend the State Nurse Conference (Sioux Falls, July 18) and the State Horse Show (Huron, July 9).
The minutes record approval of bills and payroll and include itemized vendor and payroll listings with departmental totals and a grand total recorded in the meeting packet. The board scheduled its next regular meetings for July 11 and July 18, 2024.
