Commission approves plats, temporary alcohol permit, lien compromise, sheriff flooring bid and hires
Summary
At its Aug. 8 meeting the Charles Mix County Commission approved two plats, a temporary alcohol permit for an Aug. 18 event, accepted a $2,000 lien payment in full, awarded a $19,417.43 flooring contract to DK Flooring for the sheriff's office, and approved two personnel hires and other routine business.
The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners used its Aug. 8 meeting to clear a series of routine but consequential items: two land plats, a temporary alcoholic beverage permit for an event in Dante, a county lien compromise, procurement for sheriff’s office flooring, and personnel hires.
Plats: The board approved the PLAT of Lots C & D of Lot A of Tract 1 of Lot 3-F (a Subdivision of Lot 3 in the SE1/4 of Section 11, T99N, R68W, Platte Township near 367th Ave and 275th St) and the PLAT of Holbeck Tract 1 (Government Lots 5 and 6 of Section 21, T98N, R64W, Howard Township near 389th Ave and 283rd St). Both plats were approved by motion (Stotz moved; Soukup seconded) and recorded as carried.
Permit: With no protests at the temporary alcoholic beverage public hearing, the commission approved a Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit for the Dante Pullers Association for the Dante Tractor and Truck Pull one mile east of Dante near 401st Ave and 300th St on Aug. 18, 2024 (motion by Soukup; second by Stotz).
Lien compromise: Topanga Large asked the board to reduce a court-appointed attorney lien for her family; the commission approved acceptance of a $2,000 payment as payment in full (motion by Soukup; second by Stotz).
Sheriff’s office procurement: Sheriff Randy Thaler reported a grant for inmate vital monitoring and solicited bids for carpet replacement at the sheriff’s office. The board received bids from Bouza Construction ($24,235.01) and DK Flooring ($19,417.43) and approved the lower DK Flooring bid ($19,417.43) (motion by Stotz; second by Soukup).
Personnel and travel: The board approved hiring Darrel Hidebrand as a part-time crewman (effective 8/1/24 at $21.00/hr) and Olivia Tiger as a jailer (effective 8/4/24 at $21.19/hr) and approved travel to a sheriff conference in Watertown in October.
Other routine business: The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance, and the board approved the agenda, bills for July 25 and Aug. 8 and the Register of Deeds fees ($6,755.00). The board adjourned at 12:37 p.m.
