Commission approves routine plats, agreements and departmental reports; 4‑H presents quarterly update

The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners handled a series of routine consent and miscellaneous items during its Sept. 26 meeting in Platte.
Plats and records: The board approved the Register of Deeds statement of fees for August 2024 ($10,101.50) and approved two plats: Tract A of Miller Acres (Platte Township) and Tract 1 of Meyerink Addition (Rhoda Township). Motions were recorded with Colin Soukup and Nick Stotz making and seconding moves as indicated in the minutes.
Agreements and permits: The board approved renewal of the county-managed debris disposal facility application with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The board also approved a Prisoner Housing Agreement with Hughes County as presented by Auditor Jason Gant.
Personnel and other business: Commissioners approved the donation of 30 hours of sick time from Rod Wright to another employee and appointed Alex Burkel as Deputy Sheriff effective Sept. 9, 2024, at $24.72 per hour. 4-H Educator Lesley Rygaard and Administrative Assistant Jo Cee Johnston presented a quarterly report on programming (classroom visits, shooting sports, industry tours and county fair results); no action was required.
Bills and fund totals: The minutes include a detailed ledger of claims and payroll across county funds and list fund totals culminating in a grand total of $451,218.86. The board approved bills earlier in the meeting by motion.
Meeting close: The board adjourned at 11:13 a.m.; next meetings are scheduled for Oct. 10 at the Lake Andes Highway Shop and Oct. 24 at the Geddes Highway Shop.
