Charles Mix County approves 2025 contracts for health, juvenile detention and dispatch services

The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners approved multiple service contracts for 2025 during its Dec. 12 regular meeting at the courthouse in Lake Andes.
The board approved a community health nursing contract with the South Dakota Department of Health for $15,379.54 per year. Commissioner Nick Stotz moved to approve the contract and Vice Chairman Colin Soukup seconded; the motion carried.
The board also approved juvenile detention services with the Minnehaha County Juvenile Detention Center at a rate of $497.80 per day. That contract was approved by the same motion sequence recorded in the minutes.
For emergency communications, the board approved a 2025 contract with the City of Wagner for 911 dispatch services at $5,000 per year and a separate contract with Douglas County for 911 dispatch services at $4,000 per year.
Finally, commissioners authorized inter‑county prisoner housing agreements with surrounding counties at a rate of $90 per day for housing county inmates.
Board minutes record that each contract was approved by motion (movers and seconders listed in the minutes) and that the approvals carried with all in favor. No additional conditions, contingencies or amendments to these contracts were recorded in the minutes.
The approvals were presented as part of routine contract renewals and budget preparations for 2025; the board did not request additional study or delay on these items at the Dec. 12 meeting.
