Charles Mix County approves multiple rural infrastructure grants for townships

The Charles Mix County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 21 approved multiple Rural Infrastructure Grant applications submitted by townships across the county.

Superintendent Doug Cimpl presented the applications and described related FEMA funding and a culvert project on River Bottom Road. Commissioner Nick Stotz moved to approve the first group of applications and Vice Chairman Colin Soukup seconded; the commission voted in favor.

Approved requests listed in the minutes include four Goose Lake Township projects with total amounts of $26,865.80; $89,885.00; $48,073.60; and $24,856.80, each with the county and township shares specified in the minutes (for example, the $26,865.80 project has a county share of $21,492.64 and a township share of $5,373.16). The commission also approved a Jackson Township request for $14,220.00 (county share $11,376.00).

A second motion approved additional township applications, including Jackson Township ($35,000.00; county share $28,000.00), Kennedy Township ($10,405.00; county share $8,324.00), two Lone Tree Township projects ($7,000.00 and $17,250.00), Moore Township ($24,000.00), Rhoda Township ($7,344.00) and Wahehe Township ($800.00). Each listing in the minutes shows the total project cost and the county and township shares.

All motions on the grant applications were recorded in the minutes as “all in favor, motion carried.” The minutes do not specify contract or start dates for the projects.

The commission took no separate action to change matching requirements or establish additional conditions; the approvals were recorded as motions to accept the listed grant applications.
