Lake County appoints SCOEDD's Johnathan Van Roekel as enterprise zone manager; SCOEDD agreement approved

Johnathan Van Roekel, who told the board he had been with the South Central Oregon Economic Development District since mid‑July and was reviewing previous loan contracts with Lake County, addressed commissioners on Sept. 17 and said he was "willing to take on the enterprise zone manager role" and appreciated being considered.
Commissioner James Williams moved to appoint Van Roekel as Lake County enterprise zone manager; Vice‑Chair Barry Shullanberger seconded and the minutes record the motion carried 3–0. Van Roekel told the board he had been "easing into" loan management work and welcomed the opportunity.
The board also considered an Intergovernmental Agreement between Lake County and SCOEDD. Bethany Osborn, SCOEDD loan manager for Klamath County, and SCOEDD board member and Lake County Chamber of Commerce Director Shelley Batty both said that the enterprise zone manager appointment should be handled with a separate agreement; Batty said SCOEDD agreements for each county should mirror one another. The board approved the intergovernmental agreement with SCOEDD on a 3–0 vote.
