Town of Lakeview says it will resume and prepay law-enforcement funding, forms contract committee with sheriff

Interim Town Manager Stan Foster told the Lake County Board of Commissioners at their Aug. 6 meeting that the Town of Lakeview intends to bring outstanding law-enforcement payments current and pay one quarter in advance going forward.

Foster said he would form a committee that will include Sheriff Daniel Tague and two Lakeview Town Council members to work on a new contract; he expected the committee to begin meeting after Aug. 12, 2025. Commissioners agreed that future quarterly payments should be made 30 days in advance.

Next steps: Foster said the Town Council planned to adopt a resolution on Aug. 12, 2025, to move the funds into an escrow account prior to payment and requested specific payment dates be included in that resolution. The board did not take a formal vote on the funding plan at the meeting but recorded agreement on the 30‑day advance payment schedule.
