At its Jan. 13 meeting, the Rawlins County Board of Commissioners approved a package of administrative and contract items.
The board designated the Rawlins County Square Deal as the county’s official newspaper and approved county banks as depositories (Farmers Bank & Trust, The Bank, The Outdoor Bank and Farmers National Bank). Commissioners adopted Resolution 2025-01, exempting Rawlins County from provisions of K.S.A. 75-1120a (a GAAP exemption). The board approved abatement signings from the appraiser’s office and authorized a landfill financial assurance document from Lindburg Vogel Pierce Faris.
Agriculture and public works items included approval of KDOT noxious weed agreements, the 2025 Management Plan and Resolution 2025-02 for the Noxious Weed Dealer‑Participating Cost‑Share Certificate Program. Contractors and project finance were addressed: Chris Miller (Miller & Associates) recommended approving a final payment of $163,576.05 to Cahoj's but urged withholding disbursement until the punch list is complete; the board approved payment conditioned on completion. The board also approved a landfill engagement letter and other routine items, and noted county offices will be closed Jan. 20 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and that the next regular meeting will be Jan. 31, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
