Rawlins County schedules Jan. 23 special meeting for department head raise requests; commissioners sworn and leadership named

The Rawlins County Board of Commissioners administered oaths of office to elected and appointed officials, set its 2025 leadership and scheduled a special session for personnel raise requests during the Jan. 13 meeting.
Judge Schroeder administered the oath of office to Commissioners Mark Mosley and Alan A. Solko, Sheriff Catlyn Wahrman, County Clerk Rachel Finley, County Attorney Chris Rohr and Register of Deeds Janice Bohme. Commissioner Lincoln Pochop made a motion that appointed Alan Solko as chair and Mark Mosley as vice-chair; the motion carried.
The board approved appointments of non-elected department heads: Mark Loop (Road & Bridge), Bob Simminger (Noxious Weed), Corey Castens (Landfill/Recycling), Megan Rippe (Ambulance Director), Stacey Mentlick (Courthouse Maintenance), Renee Sagel (Shuttle) and Jennifer Hurst and Mary Clark as joint Public Health department heads. Commissioners also scheduled a special meeting for Jan. 23, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in the courtroom for each department head to present their raise requests and justification; department heads and Clerk Rachel Finley will schedule presentation times.
The special meeting was set to allow commissioners to review and consider individual department requests before any changes to compensation are enacted.
