Washington County commissioners approve consent agenda, authorize property auctions

On Nov. 1, 2021 the Washington County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to approve a consent agenda that included approval of prior meeting minutes, tax refunds and releases, Proclamation 2021-025 recognizing Tobacco Awareness Month, and two resolutions authorizing sale of county-owned real property by electronic public auction.
Commissioner Ann Keyes moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Carol Phelps seconded. Vice-Chair Tracey Johnson called the roll and Commissioners Keyes, Phelps and Johnson voted yea on the package, which carried unanimously. The consent items included Resolution 2021-023 authorizing an electronic auction of 111 East Main Street in Plymouth and Resolution 2021-024 authorizing an electronic auction of 758 Spruill Bridge Road in Creswell.
The resolutions invoking the upset-bid and auction processes were presented as routine consent items; the meeting record does not show further debate on the sales during the public session. County staff will proceed with the public-notice and auction steps required by state law for disposition of county property.
The consent agenda also ratified Resolution 2021-014 conveying personal property to a nonprofit pursuant to GS 160A-280 and included several routine financial and administrative approvals contained in the Commissioners’ packet. The Board’s roll-call votes on the consent agenda were recorded as unanimous.
