Lehigh Township grants conditional approval for Riverview storage plan, OKs Hantz subdivision and SALDO deferral

The Lehigh Township Board of Supervisors on March 11 granted conditional approval to a revised Riverview Self‑Storage land development plan and approved a minor‑subdivision application for Keith and Karen Hantz, including a temporary deferral of SALDO Section 147‑14.
Developers Jason Buchta and David Wasko told the Board they relocated the developed area to avoid a delineated wetland, obtained wetland permitting and completed favorable stormwater testing while pursuing PennDOT reviews and Township engineering comments. The Board’s conditional approval was made subject to the Lehigh Township Planning Commission letter dated Feb. 26, 2025, the Township Engineer’s letter dated Feb. 10, 2025, and Fire Marshal letters dated Feb. 18 and March 9, 2025. Cindy Miller made the motion to grant conditional approval; David Hess seconded. The vote was unanimous.
Separately, the Board considered a minor subdivision for Keith and Karen Hantz and granted a deferral for dedication and extension of right‑of‑way under SALDO Section 147‑14 until development of neighboring property occurs. The Board also granted conditional final approval subject to the Planning Commission’s Feb. 25 recommendation and Township Engineer letters (motion by Cindy Miller, seconded by Janet Sheats). During the discussion Chairman Mike Jones disclosed he is “planning on giving two lots to his children,” a personal intent noted in the record.
Why it matters: The approvals advance two local development projects. The Riverview plan cleared key environmental concerns by redesigning around wetlands and securing the necessary permits, while the Hantz deferral preserves flexibility for future road dedications until adjoining development proceeds. Conditions and outstanding engineering comments remain to be resolved before final plan recording.
Next steps: Applicants will address outstanding engineering comments and satisfy conditions from the Planning Commission, Township Engineer and Fire Marshal before final recording and construction permits are issued.
